For over 40 years now, the book has sat quietly . . . waiting for someone to take the time to complete an English translation. Now, for the first time ever, this task has been completed and the English language translation of Kempo Karate-do is finally available to anyone who wishes a copy!
When this book was originally released in Japan, Chitose Sensei was among the key individuals working towards the spread of Karate-do. Kempo Karate-do was written to help facilitate this process. Now, with this new English translation, Karate students of all styles can learn from Dr. Chitose's thoughts concerning the role, importance, and techniques of Karate-do during this pivotal time of its popularization!
The translator, Mr. Christopher Johnston, has made every effort 'not' to interpret or update the words of Dr. Chitose in any way. He has presented Chitose Sensei's writing directly and has produced a translation that is remarkable for its ease of readability.
This historic book also includes Forwards by Masami Tsuruoka, Hanshi, William J. Dometrich, Hanshi, and Michael Colling Sensei. Tsuruoka Hanshi and Dometrich Hanshi are the two most senior direct students of Dr. Chitose in North America, and Colling Sensei is recognized as the leading Western historian on the life of Tsuyoshi Chitose.
